Flying Eagles to Play Central Carolina in Semifinals of Region 10 Tournament
CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — The Flying Eagles volleyball team is set to play Central Carolina Community College in the Region 10 Tournament semifinals. The match will be played on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. from the campus of Sandhills Community College.
The Flying Eagles (5-10, 4-4) finished third in the conference out of five teams with a 4-4 record in conference play. Central Carolina finished one game ahead of the Flying Eagles with a 5-3 record in conference play. The Cougars won both regular season matchups between the teams.
The winner of the match will advance to the Region 10 Championship match to play the winner of Sandhills vs Rockingham or Patrick Henry.
In conference play, the Flying Eagles lead the conference in digs per set (17.14). They are second in the conference in kills per set (10.38) and blocks per set (1.59).
For the season, middle blocker, Ann Frisk is in the top five in five different statistical categories out of all conference players. Through 15 regular season matches, Frisk ranks second in the conference in blocks per set (0.84), third in kills per set (3.20), fouth in hitting percentage (.223) and fifth in kills (144) and service aces per set (0.44).
Libero/defensive specialist, Breanna Owens is second in the conference in digs per set (4.18) and fourth in total digs (209).
Middle blocker, Hannah Hess is third in the conference in service aces per set (0.50).
Setter, Alexa Fiser ranks third in the conference in assists per set (6.41).
