The Flying Eagle’s Men’s Wrestling team finished up the dual portion of their 2022-23 season this past week, as they traveled to Division 2 Emory and Henry College on Wednesday January 25th and to West Virginia University – IT on Sunday January 29th.
Adnan Moaz and Austin Suess both had 2-0 performances on the week. Adnan dominated his way to a 15-0 technical fall at Emory and Henry, while he bumped up to 157 against WVU-IT and earned a tough fought 14-11 decision victory, which was also his 10th win of the year.
Austin earned a forfeit victory at Emory and Henry, and then continued his dominant streak as he won his 4th match in a row against WVU-IT by way of technical fall, 16-0. This also makes the 4th technical fall this season, where Austin didn’t give up a single point. He extended his team leading wins total to 17.
Billy-Jack Cupp started the week strong but had a little slip up to finish his week off at 1-2. He earned his 10th win of the year at Emory and Henry, as he defeated his opponent by way of major decision, 14-6. He fell by pin to WVU-IT in the dual match, and in an extra match.
Willie Toliver got back on the mat after missing a couple of competition dates. While showing a little “mat rust” he continues to progress and refine his craft. He fell by tech fall against Emory and Henry and by pin against WVU-IT.
Team scores for both contests with Emory and Henry and WVU-IT were: 35-15 and 36-8 in favor of the opponent.
The Flying Eagle’s hit the road this Sunday for their final regular season contest when they travel to Division 2 Newberry College in South Carolina, for a very tough open tournament.
