Women's Basketball Drops Contest with Milligan Univ. JV

In a tightly contested game, the SWCC Flying Eagles women's basketball team fell to Milligan University JV by a final score of 59-54. Despite a valiant effort, the Flying Eagles struggled to capitalize offensively, finishing with a 31.7% shooting percentage from the field.
Sophomore Paige Niethammer once again showcased her skill, leading SWCC with a strong performance. She contributed 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Flying Eagles. Freshman Kierstin Johnson was instrumental in anchoring the team's defensive effort, grabbing crucial boards and disrupting Milligan's offensive flow.
SWCC started the game strong, outscoring Milligan 16-14 in the first quarter. However, the second half saw the Flying Eagles unable to sustain their early momentum. Milligan's steady shooting and strong defensive plays in the fourth quarter sealed the win for the home team.
Key contributions also came from Grace Harvey chipped in 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds of the bench for SWCC. Freshman Tamila Francis also stuffed the stat sheet for SWCC, scoring 11 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.
The Flying Eagles will look to regroup and focus on their next matchup, as they soar back into Region X play when they travel to Brunswick CC on Saturday Jan. 18th. Tip off is set for 1:00 PM ET.
