Flying Eagles WBB Continues To Excel
The Flying Eagles Women's Basketball team is looking a little different this year. There are many new faces on the roster with some key returners from last year's successful team.
Returners for the Flying Eagles:
Destiny Jarnigan: A hard working, overachiever who leaves it all on the court. Her specialty is her mid-range shooting and rebounding abilities.
Liyah French: Described as one of the best three-point shooters in the country by her coach. Liyah is a hard worker who is currently leading the Flying Eagles in scoring.
Tamya Robertson: Jack of all trades, she is willing to do anything asked of her by Coach Lambert to help her team be successful. Described as a very selfless player who can hit the three and has great accuracy on the free throw line.
The team has lots of new faces that have already shown they are able to contribute in a BIG way. Despite the mix of returners and new additions, the team developed great chemistry early and that team first attitude is reflected in their record.
Key new Flying Eagles additions:
Anya Williams: A high energy player who has great defensive skills and amazing on-ball defense. Described as being a great rebounder for her size.
Amber Kimberlin: A great passer who also prides herself on her defensive play. Has a high defensive IQ which is evident in her ability to cause turnovers, Amber is currently leading the Flying Eagles in steals.
Jeila Greenlee: A good shooter who likes to keep her team involved in the offense. Jelia is a pass first player who can knock down a shot when needed.
Anna Hagy: Described as a sparkplug, bringing energy off the bench and willing to play any role that is asked of her. Has the ability to pass well and stretch the floor with her shooting ability.
Katie Barr: A great offensive player with a great three point shot, Barr can also create her own space with a great shooting touch off the dribble. Coach Lambert believes she will end up being one of the best offensive players in our conference.
Haley Farris: A good athletic post player who has really good movement in the paint. One of the best free throw shooters on the team.
When asked about his expectations for the remainder of the season, Coach Lambert stated, "We have dealt with injuries for the biggest part of the season so far, looking ahead we will hopefully be healthy and we are very excited to see what we are capable of when we have the whole team together. We feel like we have all the pieces we need to be one of the top teams in the conference".
The Flying Eagles are currently 14-7 (5-6 in conference) and are seated at fourth place in the Region X standings.
