October 12, 2020
Flying Eagles Women's Basketball Head Coach Thad Lambert is coming off a 12-11 season, which saw his team rattle off six straight wins to open up the season. Coach Lambert took some time from his busy schedule to answer three questions for the SWCCsports.com website.
- How did you get into coaching Women's Basketball?
I started coaching high school boy's basketball in 2001. I became the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Lebanon High School in 2007 and was the coach there for 10 seasons. I accepted a position as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Tennessee High School in 2017 and was there for one season. I was then was offered the position as Head Women's Basketball Coach at SWCC in 2018.
- What makes coaching Women's Basketball so rewarding?
One of the most rewarding aspects in coaching women's basketball is being able to bring student athletes in from different areas and teach them to develop their skills, come together as a family, and achieve their goals. The success we have as coaches comes from the success that our athletes have on the court and in the classroom.
- What lesson(s) do you hope to instill in these young women?
I want our players to love playing basketball and competing. I want their successes in life to come from a great work ethic they developed on the court and in the classroom. My hope is that our players will play with humility while learning to show genuine happiness when their teammates succeed. My ultimate goal for these ladies is for them to make memories, build relationships and become successful.
