Flying Eagles Lose Thrilling Game To #9 Red Hawks In Double Overtime
The Flying Eagles lost in a thrilling double overtime game against the ninth-ranked team in the country Catawba Valley Community College women's basketball team on Tuesday night, by a score of 88-86.
In a back and forth game that saw both teams battling through out, this conference game had everyone on their edge of their seats.
The Red Hawks had a 13-11 lead after the first quarter, however the Flying Eagles battled back in the second quarter and went into the locker room with a 5 point advantage over Catawba 33-28. The score remained deadlocked through out, with regulation ending at a 73-73 score. In the first overtime, the programs once again couldn't find seperation seeing the score remaining tied at 82-82.
In the second, and final overtime, the Flying Eagles trailed by two points with 11 seconds remaining on the clock and had the ball with a chance to tie or win the game on the final possession. However, the Red Hawks came up with the crucial stop to hang on for the narrow victory over our Flying Eagles.
The Flying Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they travel to USC Salkehatchie for another tough conference game.
