March 15th, 2025 | Shaun Schetka
Raleigh, NC-It was a tough weekend for SWCC, as they dropped all four games in their series against Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh. Despite some solid individual performances, the Flying Eagles couldn’t keep up with Wake Tech’s red-hot offense.
Game 1: Wake Tech Shuts Down SWCC, 8-0
Wake Tech wasted no time setting the tone on Friday, rolling to an 8-0 win in the series opener.
They got on the board in the first inning when Jada Graves hit into a fielder’s choice, bringing in a run. The Eagles added two more in the second with RBI groundouts from Leah Correll and Alexis Kennedy.
Correll was lights out on the mound, striking out 12 while allowing just four hits over six shutout innings. SWCC’s Emma Wilcox took the loss, giving up nine hits and five earned runs over five and two-thirds innings.
Reagan McCoy was one of the few bright spots for the Flying Eagles, going 2-for-3 at the plate. SWCC turned a double play on defense, but Wake Tech’s aggressive baserunning proved too much to handle, as they swiped nine bags and played error-free baseball.

The second game of Friday’s doubleheader followed a similar script, with Wake Tech jumping ahead early and cruising to a 10-2 win.
