Lady Eagles play First Series on Home Field

Lady Eagles play First Series on Home Field

On March 28th and 29th, history was made at SWCC once again. We hosted our first regular-season home softball series against the Pitt Community College Bulldogs. These games didn’t go how we wanted, but they were a great learning experience for the girls and for the community to come out and support the Flying Eagles. We had many new and old faces on the field today. One of the new faces was standout women’s basketball player Larae Grove, who was manning the center field position. Macie Adkins and Kimber Amos were on the mound for the Lady Eagles. Catching were Alyssa Lee and Madison Lingerfelt. The entire roster got playing time, whether it was on the field or on the plate batting. This team gave the community a team to rally behind and be proud of. A key contributor for the Flying Eagles was pitcher Macie Adkins, who was on the mound for all three games. Alyssa Lee also played a big part, having a series-high three RBIs in game 3, one of those being a batted double that let Anniston McGlothlin run in for the easy score. When asked about this home series, this is what Head Coach Amy Smith had to say: “It was an exciting series for these girls to play their first regular season home game on their field on campus. We have marked a day in the history of the softball program at SWCC. My coaching heart smiled today for these girls!”
