CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — The Southwest Virginia Community College men’s soccer program was well-represented on the 2025 NJCAA Region 10 All-Region Team, with five Flying Eagles receiving postseason recognition — the most in program history.
Sophomores Pedro Hernandez and Jake Campbell were named to the All-Region 10 First Team, while freshmen Jacque Watson and sophomore Euan Whitty earned Second Team honors. Sophomore Oscar Seliger rounded out the group as an Honorable Mention selection.
“These players have been difference-makers on and off the field,” said Head Coach Shaun Schetka. “Their recognition is a direct reflection of the work they’ve put in and the standards they’ve set for our program moving forward.”
Pedro Hernandez, a sophomore goalkeeper from Madrid, Spain, led all Region 10 keepers with 61 saves on the season. A team captain, Hernandez finished the year with seven wins, three shutouts, and a .693 save percentage, anchoring a Flying Eagles defense that consistently kept opponents under pressure.
Jake Campbell, a sophomore defender from Johannesburg, South Africa, joined his fellow captain on the First Team after leading one of the top defensive units in the region. The Flying Eagles allowed just 2.17 goals per match and recorded a program-record seven clean sheets under Campbell’s leadership and organization.
Jacque Watson, a freshman forward from Jamica, emerged as one of the most dangerous attackers in Region 10. He finished fifth in the region with 10 goals and tied for third in total points (25). Watson became just the second player in SWCC history to score double-digit goals in a single season — and the first to record a hat trick in his collegiate debut.
Euan Whitty, a sophomore midfielder from Scotland, was one of the top playmakers in the region. Whitty tied for second in Region 10 with seven assists, setting a new SWCC single-season record. He also added five goals to his tally and concluded his Flying Eagles career with eight goals and ten assists.
Oscar Seliger, a sophomore forward from Germany, earned Honorable Mention honors after finishing with six goals and six assists. Seliger ranked second on the team in both categories and closed his career with nine goals and seven assists, helping fuel one of the most balanced attacking units in program history.
The five All-Region selections highlight another milestone season for Southwest Virginia, which recorded its first postseason victory earlier this fall and continued to set new benchmarks under Coach Schetka’s leadership.
