BRISTOL, Va. — The Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) men's golf team wrapped up their 2024–25 season with a commendable showing at the NJCAA Division II Southeast District Championship, held at the Country Club of Bristol in Tennessee. The Flying Eagles posted team scores of 313 (+29), 311 (+27), and 313 (+29) across the three-day event, finishing with a cumulative total of 937 (+85). While the tournament featured a competitive field of regional programs, SWCC held their own, demonstrating consistency, resilience, and growth to close out a season that also included back-to-back Region X Division II Championships. Head Coach Bryan Greenway was once again recognized for his leadership, earning Region X Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive season. The team's success and recognition have drawn praise from across the college community. Dr. Gary Warford, SWCC Athletic Director, lauded both the players and their coach, stating, "This is a testament to the hard work of our golfers and the steady hand of Coach Greenway. Back-to-back titles and coaching honors don't happen by accident—it takes grit, discipline, and belief. Eagle Pride is alive and well."
Individual Performances
Jacob Lasley (+12 overall)
Lasley's tournament got off to a scorching start, firing a 1-under 70 in Round 1 — the lowest round of the week among the Flying Eagles. He carded five birdies, including back-to-back red numbers on holes 12 and 13, and played the back nine at an impressive 1-under. The front nine featured two birdies and no double bogeys.
Though he wasn't able to replicate that rhythm in the next two rounds, Lasley remained composed. He shot a 79 in Round 2 after early trouble on holes 1 through 5, and closed with a 76 in Round 3 marked by consistent play and no scores worse than a bogey. Lasley finished as the highest individual Flying Eagle, the sophomore finished tied for 17th place.

Colin McClintic (+22 overall)
McClintic's three-day performance was defined by resilience and steady improvement. He opened with a 77 (+6), highlighted by a solid front nine and a birdie on the 16th. In Round 2, he carded a 79 (+8), steadying his round with another birdie on the par-3 15th.
His final round was his most composed, delivering a 76 (+5) despite a pair of double bogeys. McClintic limited big mistakes and gave the Flying Eagles valuable scoring depth.

Paul Vencill (+43 overall)
Vencill fought through a tough opening two rounds but showed clear progress as the tournament wore on. He opened with an 87 and followed with an 86, struggling mainly on the front nine both days.
In Round 3, Vencill bounced back with an 83, his best round of the week. His short game tightened up and he strung together steady bogeys and pars, finishing strong with a solid stretch from holes 13 to 16 at just +1.

Justice Dillard (+33 overall)
Dillard showed one of the most dramatic improvements of the week. After an opening-round 89 (+18) that included a tough triple bogey on hole 7, he rebounded strongly in Round 2 with a 77 (+6). He was locked in on the back nine, shooting a 37 thanks to smart course management and steady putting.
In Round 3, he kept his momentum going, carding an 80 (+9) with consistent play across both sides of the course. A birdie on the par-3 15th was a highlight, and his closing stretch showed maturity and confidence.

Jackson Cook (Overall: +20)
Jackson Cook fought through the challenges at the Country Club of Bristol, posting consistent scores over the three rounds. Cook's performance started with a solid 79 (+8) in Round 1, followed by a 76 (+5) in Round 2, where he showed improvement and steady play. His final round saw him post a 78 (+7), with a focus on minimizing mistakes and closing out the tournament strong.
