Flying Eagles vs. Johnston CC Recap

The SWCC Flying Eagles Men's Basketball Team returned to the King Community Center for the first time in over a month on Saturday, January 27th, for a home game against conference opponent Johnston Community College from Smithfield, NC. The Eagles came away with a hard-fought 105-98-point victory. Freshman guard Jaden Lyles led all scorers with 36 points, including going 13-14 from the foul line. "I was very proud of our team play following our loss Wednesday night at Catawba Valley. We are at our best when we get the ball out fast in transition and make the extra pass. I felt we did a great job of passing the ball ahead and finishing strong. Freshman guard Khail Peoples, Sumter, SC, stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. He was 3-5 on three-point attempts. Corean Nelson, a freshman guard from Sumter, SC, also scored in double figures with 17 points while playing tough defense on Johnston's CC leading scorer. "There are no bad conference wins, Mullins said. This league is so tough, and you have to play 40 minutes if you want a chance to win. As a team, we must scratch and claw every possession to try and get stops. Scratching, clawing, and playing for each other is the way, and we must try our best to continuously improve each day.".
