McMillian has spent the last 26 years coaching at various levels including middle school, high school and his own traveling organization in Bristol TN. This is his 5th college stop in the last 8 years. In 2022-23 he coached at Emory and Henry College for the legendary Trey McCall before starting as the new head coach here at Southwest. During the off season, the Mt. Airy, NC native works with his traveling organization Jr Patriots in Bluff City and Bristol TN. During his 18 years of travel ball, he has had over 80 kids go on to compete at the collegiate level and Professional Level. ”It’s been an honor to work with kids from the area and to see them reach their goals in life. I am truly blessed” McMillian was born in Winston Salem NC, raised in MT. Airy NC, and went to Carroll County HS to play for the legendary Bill Worrell. He played his collegiate baseball at Virginia Intermont College. McMillian was a part of the Cobra squad that won the Appalachian Athletic Conference in 1997. McMillian is a 1998 graduate from Virginia Intermont College with a Bachelor of Art in Business Management. Steve McMillian, lives in Bristol TN, with his lovely wife Candice McMillian, and their 5 kids.
