Game 1: Big Innings Doom SWCC in 17–5 Loss
The SWCC Flying Eagles couldn't slow down a hot-hitting Catawba Valley squad on Saturday, falling 17–5 in the series opener.
Catawba Valley broke things open in the third inning, stringing together big swings from Pierce Bouwman, Mason Mozeley, and Brody Taylor to put up five runs.
The Red Hawks weren't done there. They poured on seven more runs in the fourth, highlighted by Mozeley's three-run homer and a two-run single from Gage Weaver.
Catawba Valley stayed on the gas in the fifth with another five-run outburst, capped by back-to-back home runs from Taylor and Carter Starnes.
On the mound, Michael Crayton picked up the win for the Red Hawks, scattering seven hits over four innings while striking out six. JP Eads took the loss for SWCC, allowing five runs across just over two innings of work.
Cason McInnis led the way offensively for SWCC, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Ben Kilbourne, McInnis, Gabe Cuellar, and Damien Boyd each drove in a run for the Flying Eagles.
Game 2: Fourth-Inning Explosion Pushes Red Hawks Past SWCC, 17–0
One monster inning was all it took for Catawba Valley to take full control Sunday afternoon.
The Red Hawks erupted for 10 runs in the fourth inning, turning a close game into a 17–0 runaway over SWCC at Cole Henkle Field.
Drew Berenyi and Isaiah McDowell sparked the rally early with back-to-back RBI hits, and Pierce Bouwman later cleared the bases with a three-run single to blow the game wide open.
Carter Starnes added the finishing touches with a three-run homer in the fifth.
Cole Bowie turned in a dominant start for Catawba Valley, striking out eight over four shutout innings. Brayden Dilday took the loss for SWCC.
Despite the tough outing, the Flying Eagles picked up hits from Peyton Dodson, Cason McInnis, and Ronnie Hall.
Berenyi finished with three hits and three RBIs to lead the Red Hawks, while Catawba Valley also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks and playing error-free defense.
Game 3: SWCC Falls 13–1 in Series Finale
SWCC wrapped up the weekend with a 13–1 loss to Catawba Valley, as the Red Hawks' offense kept rolling on Sunday.
Catawba Valley jumped ahead early with a two-run single from Brody Taylor and never looked back. Drew Berenyi added another RBI single in the second, and Will Fowler delivered the knockout punch with a two-run homer in the fourth.
Braiden Moore earned the win for the Red Hawks, holding SWCC to just two hits over five innings. Peyton Dodson battled on the mound for the Flying Eagles but couldn't overcome Catawba Valley's relentless bats.
Graham Irvin led SWCC at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, and Max McGlothlin drove in the team's only run.
The Red Hawks racked up 14 hits in the finale, with Berenyi, Fowler, AJ Ciaccio, Carter Starnes, and Taylor all delivering multi-RBI games. They also stole five bases and turned a double play to back up their pitchers defensively.
